Sawley Kitchen – Food Photography for Packaging & Web

Not long ago, I had the pleasure of working with Dan from Sawley Kitchen, an award-winning bakery just outside Ripon, UK. Dan initially reached out because he needed help creating cover-style food images for their newly designed shortbread taster box.
Dan had tried using AI to generate the images but hadn’t gotten the results he was looking for. He wanted real, high-quality photography that captured the craftsmanship and appeal of his products—and translated beautifully into print for the packaging.

The Brief:
The brief was simple but precise: create food photos that could be printed inside the new packaging box and reflect the handcrafted, authentic style of the bakery. The only requirement was that the images be photographed on a dark slate background. These photos would become a key selling point of the taster box, complementing Sawley Kitchen’s ongoing effort to improve product design and boost sales.
From the start, it was clear we’d focus on classic bakery ingredients and equipment: eggs, flour, chocolate, sugar, a rolling pin, and a whisk. The aim was to make the photos relatable, authentic, and visually engaging, while leaving enough space for the bakery’s branding to sit comfortably in the layout.

The Approach:
I decided on a classic top-down shot, perfect for printed photos inside a packaging box. After exploring a few different layouts and designs, we quickly landed on some standout compositions that would translate perfectly to print.
The main challenge was getting the measurements and crop just right: ingredients too close together look cramped, but spread too far apart and you risk cutting off important elements. After testing a few layouts and fine-tuning the arrangements, Dan quickly chose his favorites. These went straight to print and are now part of the packaging design.

Ongoing Collaboration and Goals:
Since then, Dan has returned with the finished product and commissioned a fresh set of photos to showcase the taster boxes on the Sawley Kitchen website. The goal this time was to create visuals that are authentic, appetizing, and engaging, highlighting the new packaging while making it easy for customers to fall in love and click “buy.”
The end game was bigger than individual shots: the images needed to make the website look cohesive, build brand awareness, and ultimately drive sales. Each new photo helps Sawley Kitchen tell a consistent, compelling visual story across packaging, online presence, and marketing.

Working with Dan has become a regular collaboration. Each new project allows me to refresh and update Sawley Kitchen’s website visuals and other branded content, helping the business evolve while maintaining its signature style.

It’s always a pleasure working with a brand that values thoughtful presentation as much as the quality of their products. Seeing Sawley Kitchen grow and evolve through each project is incredibly rewarding—and it’s exactly the type of collaboration I love bringing to other food and lifestyle businesses.

Nomad Catering – Wedding Food Photography for Brochure 2025/2026

Recently I had the pleasure of working with James Brown, the owner of Nomad Catering, a well known wedding caterer based here in Harrogate and operating within North Yorkshire.
James reached out because he was looking for some fresh food photos for his upcoming Wedding Brochure 2025/2026.

The Brief:
The brief was straightforward: clean, strong photographs that put his beautifully crafted dishes in the best spotlight possible. Because of that, we kept the table styling to an absolute minimum so the focus stayed firmly on the food.

The Approach:

The overall approach was simple — elegant, natural, and fully focused on the dishes themselves. No unnecessary distractions, just good light, thoughtful composition, and attention to the small details that really show the craft behind each plate.

Final Goal:

The goal was to highlight the quality, presentation, and aesthetic of the dishes so couples browsing the brochure can instantly picture the experience Nomad Catering brings to a wedding day.

Landhotel Voshövel – Attracting Guests Through Visual Storytelling

Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Landhotel Voshövel, one of Germany’s leading destinations for wellness and luxury, located in Nordrhein-Westfalen. From its exquisite design to its dedication to
create memorable guest experience, the hotel perfectly embodies the balance of relaxation, sophistication, and innovation modern travellers are looking for.

Being part of this project reinforced something I see time and time again: strong hospitality photography isn’t just about nice images — it’s about storytelling, trust, and ultimately attracting the right guests.

Why Hospitality Photography Matters:
When people book a hotel, spa, or wellness retreat, they’re not just buying a room — they’re buying an experience. Photography is often the very first impression, and in many cases it’s what makes someone decide to click “book” or keep scrolling.
Clean, thoughtfully styled images help communicate:
-atmosphere and mood
-quality and attention to detail
-the overall guest experience before they even arrive
It allows potential guests to picture themselves there — relaxing, enjoying the space, and becoming part of that experience.

The Approach:
With a destination like Landhotel Voshövel, the focus naturally shifts to capturing the feeling as much as the visuals. The aim is always to keep things authentic while highlighting design, atmosphere, and the small details that make the stay special.
Good hospitality photography doesn’t overwhelm — it guides the eye, builds curiosity, and makes the viewer want to step into the scene. Light, composition, and timing all play a huge role in achieving that.
The Impact on Guest Attraction
High-quality visuals help create:
-stronger brand perception
-consistency across website, brochures, and social media
-increased trust before booking
-and ultimately more direct interest and reservations
People connect emotionally with images first — words usually come second. When the visuals feel genuine and inviting, guests are far more likely to engage.

Final Thoughts:
Collaborating with a hotel that values thoughtful presentation as much as guest experience always shows how powerful the right imagery can be. It’s not just about documenting a space — it’s about helping potential guests feel something before they even arrive.

La Pearle Jewellery Brand Logo

Jewellery Photography Case Study – La Pearle

Recently I had the pleasure of working with Smita Mistry, founder and owner of La Pearle, an artisan jewellery designer specialising in handcrafted, high-quality, unique pearl jewellery.
Smita reached out because she needed a refresh of her product photos for the website.

The Brief:
The goal was clear: create real-life jewellery product images with a model, almost catalogue-style, that would put her pieces in the best possible light while reflecting the natural beauty and elegance of her pearls for real women.

The Approach:

The approach was to keep everything clean, natural, and relatable — focusing on how the jewellery actually looks when worn, rather than overly styled or artificial setups. Good light, simple composition, and attention to detail were key to making sure the pearls remained the hero of every image.

The final images were designed to give the website a more cohesive, polished feel, helping customers picture themselves wearing the pieces while strengthening the overall brand presence online.

Projects like this show how strong product photography can elevate a brand, build trust, and help customers connect emotionally with what they’re seeing — especially with something as personal as jewellery.

Product Photography Case Study – ROWBERT

Recently I had the pleasure of working with Kirsty, the owner and founder of ROWBERT – A SCENT FOR EVERY MOMENT. Kirsty reached out because she was looking for higher-quality product photos for her website.

The Brief:

Her brief was clear: clean product/packshot images on a white background that would give the website a more professional feel — especially when it comes to customers browsing and ordering her products online.

The Approach:

The approach was straightforward: keep everything crisp, simple, and polished, making sure the products stay the focus while presenting them in a way that builds trust and confidence for potential buyers. Good lighting, accurate colours, and consistent framing were key to achieving that professional catalogue-style look.

The Final Images:

The final images were designed to elevate the overall presentation of the website, helping create a stronger first impression and making it easier for customers to connect with the brand and feel confident purchasing online.
Projects like this show how clean, professional product photography can make a real difference to brand perception and sales. If you’re looking to refresh your product photos, elevate your website visuals, or give your brand a more professional edge, I’d be happy to help bring that vision to life.
